Thank you for visiting Hall's Tavern, one of the oldest buildings in Louisa County. Also known as Hackney's Old Stand, Hall's Tavern dates back to 1750 and was a well-known stop for Virginia's founding fathers and other travelers on a significant route between Charlottesville and Richmond.

In 2006, the Louisa County Board of Supervisors rezoned the property that served as the tavern's historical home to allow the development of an industrial park. Proffers attached to the rezoning required Hall's Tavern to be relocated or demolished.

After an extensive feasibility study and consultation with experts, we determined the tavern could be safely moved from its original location to a new home in Green Springs National Historic Landmark District.

Currently our focus is on restoring this building back to what it might have looked like over 200 years ago.

We hope HallsTavern.com helps document our efforts to preserve this symbol of colonial America.
